I still have my original SS card stapled to the card that was handed to me back in 1967. I have never ever carried it or shown it to anyone that I remember. It is right next to my birth certificate and passport. As a military brat I used to know my dad's SS number since it was his ID number. I did not need that after I turned 21 so it has been a few years since I had to use it.
I have a metal fireproof box that I got when I was 21. I have some crap in there that will never been needed like the payment schedule to my dad for my first car. I made it up on a piece of paper and crossed of each payment until it was done. $50 bucks a month for a year. That was big money for me back then.
