That Block Repair is Fantastic , I really Like the entire Procedure . I wonder if One can perhaps
Space the Impeller forward to obtain the Block to Impeller Clearance as well. The Back side of the Impeller simply being Flat I doubt would be a Issue to the Water Circulation produced by the Impeller .
This 86 YR Model Referenced on this Post having the plastic Impeller certainly Saved the Block
From such Damage . I did Note the Polished Area's where the Impeller ( Plastic ) Rubbed the Block creating the Polished Looking Area's
Now if the Steel Shaft had broke free and Hit the Block no doubt serious Damage would have Occurred. However the Shaft being at the center and well within the Large
Hole of the center of the Water inlet certainly limit the possibility's of such happening .
The Car now runs Great and whisper Quite with no Issues .
Porsche Dealer gave a Discount on the Kit so was quite affordable .
Kit has all New Bolts , Gasket . Red Timing Marker with Mounting screws / Washers
Pump Bolts are 5 short with neoprene Washers and 8 Bolts with Shoulder Washers .
This is a upgrade from original WP Bolts
All from Porsche . no Overheating Issues . Interesting that the Failed Pump was also a Porsche Rebuild Kit Pump rather then a New Pump . Luck had it they already had the plastic
impeller way back in 2001 . That Pump lasted a Long time for a 928 . I Expect the same for this one .
I did not find any Reallocate Type Crankshaft Seals Available for a 928 front Crankshaft seal . I did not need one however did note a tiny mark of wear on the crank .
I did note that the seal could be simply Cut down to make your own relocation Seal.
Simply Cut some 60 Thousands off the Inner Edge and the seal well move inward just that amount . Having seen Seal ware on 928 shafts before I took interest in the possibles of relocating the seal .
