I've heard that Midwest Council runs some pretty low key vintage events at Blackhawk a few times a year. I've regularly run the July intake races (Hawk, Kic, Bric and other iterations) and the fall festival in September. The latter is much more low key than the July event and a lot more track time. I'm also involved with a MN based club that runs a couple events at Brainerd International Raceway. It's a bit of s haul from you in sure, but a casual event to get your toes wet.
