I did nothing with Half Dome, short of composing the image. Mother Nature did the rest. One just needs to know what location to be at.
Talking about trampling the grass, I'll post a pic of all the photographers at the location we were at for Firefall. We estimated around 750 people and $500,000 worth of gear all around.

No, no need. It will only sadden me. I remember going up there as a kid. There was no traffic, not huge tour buses, and there's always a place to camp in the valley or near by. Slowly, it needed reservation, then it was a year in advance. I haven't camped in the Valley since I was a little boy. The traffic is insane during the summer. I hear the same thing is happening in Yellowstone, so we now go to those places right when the park opens after winter or sneak in there in the winter months. There's something magical about hanging around the mountains in the summer that's really fantastic, but its looking like a thing of the past for us due to the amount of people going to those places.
