The one I was referring to wasn't New Canaan. But I have heard that gets good in the warm weather. I was hustling another parkway in another state with tighter turns, elevation changes, off cambers and more. Did I ever tell you the story about racing another 997 T many many many years ago on a warm Sunday am (say 8am)...empty road and we were screaming down the parkway DOING A REASONABLE SPEED FOR THE CONDITIONS AND SURROUNDINGS (MattM suggested I edit my actual speed from the post). Lots of fun until my follower got lose on a uphill off camber and spun into the grass run off (thankfully not the concrete barrier). I caught this all in my rearview as a continued down the road...I am a bit of a jerk as I did not go back (I was sort of scared to be implicated although I was not the cause of his spin). I regretted that. I am the first guy to help when possible. I know this place is filled with Haters (MM to name but one), so I hope this isnt a knock on my character.
Anyway -
The Merritt is a great road, albeit, it has been straightened and widened since I was a kid. Back then, it was a marvelous challenge.
I assumed you were from Brooklyn, I guess not.
Ronnie (I am not telling you something you dont already know) but most long hoods are really slow off the line, but great at 4k RPMs in 3rd and 4th gears. Today, all cars are fast in a straight...its when twisties, braking, apexing, and driver skill come in to play that the car comes alive and is fun sun fun.
My 993TT has 505 hp...its a sub 58 second car at LRP for DE's. I recently had the pleasure of driving a NA 993 with a seriously set-up suspension and it was equally fun. It was great as it was able to carry more speed through the turns and hang the rear a tad. Yes, 4wd heavy vs 2wd and lighter. Both were excellent...one was blazing fast and the other a perfect balance of engine to suspension.
