Interesting. I get it, but complaining about fuel consumption when you're driving an M5 seems silly to me. Maybe I wouldn't have felt the same if you had been primarily complaining about range due to a tiny tank. I loved the fact that my old '88 911 had a nearly 23 gallon tank. My Boxster has a 16.9 gallon tank. That's not bad.

I work with a guy that has a C6 corvette. He says his car gets 30mpg in his daily commute here in Houston. His car runs on 4 cylinders when he's just cruising. Does the M5 do that? I'm guessing that the M5 is a smaller, more highly strung motor than the monster in the Corvette. Maybe the M5 doesn't have the massive torque to run on 4 cyl? You would think it does, but I don't know.

Again, it is an M5. Complaining about fuel consumption seems a bit silly.

Tires? Yeah, goes along with the fuel mileage. It's an M5, big, heavy, powerful car. Complaining about fuel mileage and tires....

I totally get the tranny thing. I don't know that they've got the whole smg thing down for relaxed daily driving. Is there anything that is an automatic, manual trans that is set up well for relaxed daily driving?
