Very good input so far, thanks everyone. Here's my story. I've been using Safety Insurance for 25 years and think they are excellent. I gave my truck to the company when I started it and recently transferred the title. My insurance agent told me that as a commercial vehicle, I'd be paying $1400 a year for a 2001 Tundra. Does not make sense, truck isn't driven for than 2K miles a year. Called another MA insurance agent that's been advertising recently and they gave me $560 per year through Progressive.
While $1400 is far too much, I would rather pay $750 a year for coverage I can count on vs. discount rate insurance that will cause more headache, and maybe money, than a few hundred dollar a year difference if something happens. Oddly enough, people seem to hit me a lot, last time was a new RAV4 drove into the side of the truck while I was stopped at a stop light. Ripped the nose right off his car. That sort of thing happens a lot. Anyway, being hit has worked out well for me, but don't want to test waters the other way around even if I'm not at fault.
