Clive Cussler books are super-easy reads. If you don't want to think too much, and don't mind totally suspending disbelief, then they can be a fun read on the beach or an airplane. The stories are pretty imaginative, I guess, and after a while you start to enjoy the characters.
(I've often thought it's almost like reading the Hardy Boys, but that hasn't stopped me from reading quite a few of them.)
