It reminds me of another movie that came out a few years ago...

A robot with a secret message escapes to a desert planet. The robot finds its way to a young person with not much of a future to look forward to.
So this young guy person has to leave the planet and is friended by an older person who introduces that person to the Force. And the secret messages the robot has will be pivotal in balancing the power between good and evil.
Then there is this huge planet or moon-like weapon that can destroy whole planets with the press of a button.
And the elder person faces the evil nemesis. And meets his end.
The planet weapon gets destroyed by dropping a bomb into a small, vulnerable area of the weapon.

So which movie did I just describe? Star Wars - A New Hope, or Star Wars, The Force Awakens ? (OR BOTH?)
