I walked around that back area and found another one with a different color (not as healthy tho). I wonder why they decided to come up and bloom this years? if they had bloomed before, I certainly would have noticed them.

I looked it up again to refresh my memory and they are supposed to do better in some shade. Maybe that's the difference with yours - the red is more shaded.
One reason they may not have bloomed before is perhaps they hadn't matured enough.
At any rate.....those red ones are stunning!

Monrovia link to the yellow variety that I have....they refer to them as a "Belgian Hybrid Bush Lily"...but "Kaffir Lily" is the more accepted common name.
