What should I do with these cylinders?
These are from a '79 930 with 80k miles. Not sure what to do with #2 and #5.
Specs:
max. p to c clearance spec. .0059"
max. cyl. wear spec. .00315"
max. ovality spec. .00157"
Actual:
clearance wear ovality
#1 .0029 .0009 .0002
#2 .0022 .0004 .0015
#3 .0028 .0009 .0005
#4 .0025 .0007 .0008
#5 .0019 .0001 .0016
#6 .0032 .0013 .0003
They are all well within tolerance with the exception of #2 and #5 ovality. Maybe these center cyl's. run hotter than the outsides and take this shape? They have the smallest "A" dimension (top to bottom) but the largest "B" dimension (in-line with pin) of all the cyls. There should be little wear in the "B" direction so it must be due to thermal deformation? They both show virtually no ovality at the bottom. So I can run them, try to find two good used in the same diameter and height group (1&6) or send to US Chrome. Recommendations? Thanks.
