Are you sure this is real? Airflow through the factory airbox is not constricted or representative of a performance limiting factor; (like the barn-door afm for example). I replaced my entire intake with an Autothority MAF / chip and wouldn't say that it changed things nearly as dramatically as you describe. Could the additional sound in the cabin be flavoring your impressions?
Not being a smart-a$$ but your results sound unrealistic for such a minor tweak.
