I may have phrased it a bit differently than Steve did but that's about the way I have it. I took a few post-dated checks at the pawn shop (not that I took many checks at all) but the terms were certainly made clear before I took them to the bank.
I don't know what to say re the 'rant' against banks; in 30 years of business I had no issues with the ones I dealt with. Maybe it was a small town thing.
