Pierre, if you've been reading here lately to use WD-40 to remove old gaskets, I can understand why the thought might cross your mind that it can't be too good for your paint. The product is fairly innocuous; it contains a solvent and silicone. While it could be a problem if you wanted to paint your car soon, thorough washing and re-waxing should nulify any potential problems with that aspect. Other than that, I can see no alarm about having the product on your paint.
Don't take TimT's remark in offense. He is not known to me to consciously make fun of other people's posts. It's just that in the year and a half that I have been here, I've never seen a post with concern about WD-40. He maybe thought you were trying a joke.
