Propofol is well known to cause discomfort when administered (was the medication white like milk?). The cuff stopped the medication in the vein---ouchy!! Many will mix and/or administer some IV xylocaine prior to propofol which attenuates the discomfort.

It's entertaining and educational to read the commentary in this thread!
