I like the 996TT and plan on picking one up later this year. However, buying one in hopes of appreciation is a crap shoot.
There were a total of
1909 993TT's built during the total production run (not including the S model)
There were
5324 996TT's built in 2001 ALONE! (total of 16,965 coupes excluding cabriolets and other variants)
It's all about the numbers and desirability.....which an air cooled turbo wins hands down.
So, enjoy your car but don't make it part of your retirement plan!
