As a former rental shop owner I can tell that you will not buy a good HD jackhammer for under $ 1000. Renting is the way to go IMO. We charged $ 65/day including bits for the large Bosch Brute.

In the 40 years of operations the only brands we bought where Kango (Atlas Copco, now Milwaukee), Bosch Brute and Hilti.

With Hilti being the undisputed no.1. This said, the Milwaukee's have done very well for us.
