I didn't mean to imply that Trump is directly at fault for the gum or poo incidents. (I would have thought that much was obvious.) I simply wanted to point out then when our "leaders" do things like Trump did with that retweet about the relative beauty of his and Cruz's wives, it only emboldens the minions in society to say and do whatever they want with impunity. With people like Trump on the news and leading in the polls, it just can't surprise any of us that the minions are doing things like putting gum on strangers' cars. Maybe that's called "trickle down irresponsibility".
Perhaps that connection is too tenuous but with each passing day - particularly during this election cycle - I get more and more worried that our leaders are failing to set good examples and so I think these gum and poo style incidents are symptomatic of a leadership vacuum and will only be increasing in frequency. Lead by example, people. It's the least we can do.
