My friend is the regional manager for Asia. His company makes motors for all sorts of purposes. Electrical motors for side mirrors, window winders, radio aerials, headlight adjusters, remote control cars, forced feedback playstation wheels and handheld, mobile phone buzzers etc etc. and guess where their main factory is - yes China.

Now he's an expat US guy and states that any of these items are outstanding quality (course he would given he works for them) but as Wayne said above, quality has to be proven to gain the contracts from comapnies such as Bosch, Nintendo, Sony, Nokia etc so I would be too quick to complain about 'quality.'

In the main, its not the location, but the technology and labour force costs that affect production and China has both on its side. Theres some logic in China being accepted into the WTO you know.
