Instagram? No thanks.

I guess I've reached that point where I'm officially "too old"

My wife needed help with her phone; she was trying to upload a file to Instagram that was in her Dropbox account, and at the same time she wanted me to look at why her battery life was so dismal. Apparently instagram doesn't "do" dropbox, so I had to plug the phone in via USB and manually copy the file to where instagram wanted to find it.

Holy hell, Instagram has to be the most annoying app in the history of apps. At every turn there was an animated, looping ad popping up, and it was laid out in a way that made it very easy to tap on it if you weren't paying attention. Several different videos trying to all auto-play at the same time - the sounds coming out of the phone sounded like a hamster in a blender. There was even an accidental video she shot of the ground while trying to take a picture - that god damn video was looping over. And over. And over. Why is that necessary? Why is any of that 5hit necessary? Why do you need a loop of a video from your phone, playing over and over, unrequested, with no way to stop it? After about 3 minutes I was in a blind rage, ready to throw the phone at the wall. It was like something from one of those post-modern noir movies where there's an video advertisement on every surface, in the sky, etc.

Do kids nowdays just develop a way to mentally block out all this dancing baloney? Or is making your selfie look like a polaroid you left on the dash of a Ford Pinto in 1978 worth putting up with this garbage?
