Jack White fell in love with Dolly's work and (to her pleasant surprise) he recorded some of her songs and they collaborated on others.

By the way, Jolene was a real person. She was a teller at Dolly's bank. She realized that her husband created every excuse to go to the bank just so he could see teller Jolene.
