VW wouldn't let me do it or it would void ALL warantees. Not something I was willing to do on a new 2005 car, especially since the service at the local dealership sucked. If something broke it would have cost a fortune. Still seems to me they would have rather made me a happy customer than buy the car back for what I paid for it including tags and tax. Especially since I had a doctors statement that the seat was causing the nerve damage. Maybe I wasn't a special case and they were trying to defer a law suit.
I had never heard of anyone having the problem until actor Hugh Grant was the star in a reasonably priced car on Top Gear. He talked about really liking his Aston Martin until he drove his brother's VW Golf and it caused him pains like mine. They jokingly called it Golf Balls. After the Golf said it even made the Aston Martin give him Golf Balls so he reluctantly sold it and got a 911. The 911 didn't hurt at all.
