You can't address the IMS issues on those cars. Not in a way that makes financial sense anyway. The bearing is wider than the hole you'd extract it from, so you have to split the case. Not really cheap - that's the irony (the older maligned 996/986 era cars can get a new bearing, but not those). On those cars, you fix the water pump, the AOS, the coolant caps, and you change the oil frequently and drive them hard all the while crossing your fingers that you don't fall foul of the small statistical chance of blowing one up. Folks will tell you it's super rare, they will be correct, but it does happen and f it happens to you, it will be expensive. If I were to buy another (lovely cars), I'd buy a warranty and sleep well.
