The older airbags will not suffer the issue with the Takata airbags. They use Sodium Azide as the "propellent" not Ammonium Nitrate.
As far as "Will they Operate?", I don't know. But potentially a valid concern. They won't "go off" like old dynamite. But they may fail to operate.
