The reason for HP loss on the 75-77 was emission controls. The engine was the same iirc. Take off the exhaust/emissions, put on an 11blade fan and they are the same.
Price? well, many shy from the 2.7, especially since the 3.0 and 3.2 offer more HP and TQ to begin with. Those with a certain project in mind may want the Mag case of the 2.7.
