Yea, when my dad died and I called all the utilities to change the mailing address they all kept asking for my SSN. I told them is was 555-55-5555 and for some reason they did not like that. I said listen, I am a current customer at my house and you have a long term history of my account. It is on automatic pay so it is never ever late. ONLY my bank and my employer get my SSN. By LAW no one else is entitled to it. I usually had to talk to a supervisor's supervisor to get them to OK changing the billing address. It was almost fun calling AT&T and killing the home phone line and the DSL internet connection. They started off with the same guff about my SSN. I told them "this is simple, if you want to get the last month paid at all, kill the connection right now, and send me the bill at my house." They decided that would work.
