The restoration begins - 1966 912
I was hanging out talking VWs and Porsches at last week's Vintage VW meet in San Jose, where I was showing the '50 split. Next thing I knew, I was talking to Rich, who had a promising little barn find. Now, it's mine.
It had been in storage since 1985 in Tehachapi, California and also in New York. It was sold originally in Switzerland and eventually made it's way to CA. It is very original, with the original engine. The speedo reads 57,000 km (still has the Euro speedo), but I can't say for sure whether or not it's turned over. Coincidentally, my '50 VW also reads 57,000 km (also a Euro model), and that may also be original miles, but can't be verified.
I plan on restoring it to original. I'd love to find a cool Swiss badge for the engine grill from around 1966.
