How cool is this?

Designed and 3D printed a replacement faceplate to go into the space where the radio was originally.

It holds an AFR gauge, tilted 15 degrees towards the driver, and the controls for my bluetooth amp (mounted under passenger seat). The two holes between the gauge and amp controls are for alarm LEDs for the AFR and knock sensor.

To the right of the amp controls are the Microsquirt monitor/programming port and a USB power outlet.

I plan on covering with carbon fibre look vinyl.

Super cool. I especially like the offset for the gauge. To mount my PLX gauge, I made a leather covered insert out of wood where the ashtray used to be. It came out pretty well but not as slick as that.

Nice work flighthead,
Not sure it needs the carbon fibre finish though,
I like it the way it looks.

Bravo! A nice clean look to blend the old and the new with an A+ for the offset gauge.

Very cool. Besides new ideas like this, I think 3D printing will be the savior of our old car habit.

I think you guys are right about covering it. Maybe I'll sand and paint a matte black.

damn dude - titz!

I'd not change a damn thing - the 'grain' on the insert looks to be a near-perfect match to the OE surroundings (at least looks such in pic)

nicely done

I'm getting ready to get rid of my headunit as well. How many gauges do you estimate you could fit with the same tilt?

I've seen a single DIN gauge mount for 3 but it looks like crap and like the gauge bezels would go over the edge of the faceplate. Not to mention the folded "washboard" appearance would look horrible against a largely flat dash. Yours looks a little more fitting sticking out vs. being recessed into the dash like this:

I'll put together a model tonight but I guess 3. And I'm pretty sure I could make a better mount than that flimsy looking thing.

Very nice, may I suggest covering with black vinyl or black leather instead of carbon fiber look.

+100. I'd try to make it as factory/inconspicuous as possible.

So cool! I could put three clocks in and never worry about time zones again!

Seriously an awesome solution. Well conceived and executed.
