One observation that I have made is that Porsche transitioned their pipe from small to larger right at the turbo. They then carries the larger size up to the intercooler (or intake in the case of the 3.0 turbo's).

A 2" to 2 1/2 transition is typically used. I try to have the transition as close to the turbo/turbos as possible. https://www.jegs.com/i/Vibrant+Performance/231/12064/10002/-1?gclid=CjwKCAiAh5_uBRA5EiwASW3Iap6ovnb8WkqeUWlymV 2R2Yz6q2DX50G4AaDlk2l0G3z8Bw_FGJsT7xoChvIQAvD_BwE

I have a 2” intercooler inlet on my new intercooler and had 2.5”on my old one. I didn’t see any difference whatsoever going back to 2”
