Broken head studs
Hi
Find of mine bought a 77 turbo carrera. We have removed the engine because we have found 2 broken studs in the begining of the work. Finally 16 studs was broken of the 24. Should we go for the original Dilavar or ARP studs?

ARP or Henry's Supertec studs. Your choice.
There have been so many iterations of Dilivars that seem to always fail that many people simply don't trust them. The latest greatest all thread Turbo dilivars have their following, but many of us have never seen the ARP's or Supertec's break, so we stick with those. |

+ 1 Supertec , they do NOT need re-torquing as the others do

I really like the Supertec studs and like Black Hat said, no retorquing needed.

curious.. did the rest of the studs break while you were trying to remove them?
Surely it didn't have 16 broken studs before it was parked up?

Yes, hopefully you’re using some heat to get them out…

All the 16 were already broken. Somebody forgot to connect the waste-gate pressure hose. the car was off to road in the last 24 years.
We managed to take all stud out

While you are in there, have you checked the main bearing bores?
