where the electrical wizards at - tach /gauge issue

I have 79 930 with CIS / bosch twinplug CDI.....recently intalled innovate motorsport MTS guages and the BL RPM switch /solenoid.

The gauges are all working as intended and I am logging AFR, Boost, RPM, Oil Temp, Voltage, Fuel Pressure on a PL1 and charing on Logworks 3.

the other day I wired up the RPM Switch and set the solenoid toopn at 4000RPM. I logged some easy driving, went to Log works tochart myfuel pressure / AFRs /boost and RPM.....everything was was recorded but the RPM channel is gone now. iam thinking ithas to be related.

The Innovate RPM gaauge takes the signal off the black / voliolet wire behind tach. I can see the wire still has voltage.

tach is working,
RPM Solenoid is working
Innovate RPM channel not working.

I am going to disconnect the RPM solenoid and see if I get the RPM channel back.

Does this make sense to anyone?'
Do I need amplify the pulse to the RPM channel if I am adding the MSD RPM switch ?

Adding a 10K 1/2 watt resistor was suggested by innovate...seems easy enough...but they are not familliar CDI / MSD / enough to know for sure....

check out the guages on @outlaw34 in IG if you are thinking about doing same. Happy to help....ifI could do it any one can!

I disconnected the MSD switch. Now the logger sees the RPM signaland the TACH works.

so that leaves me with
A. RPM Switch Box is defective ? but it does work as it is suppose
B. The tach wire can not drive tach, MSD and gauge.

I did notice the volatage went from 1.8v to 2.4v at tach when I discconnected the MSD from the tach wire.

I have no idea - waaay out of my scope.
But.... I did try running three tach functions off the tach wire and it did not work. I suspect your B option may be a possibility. It is not a strong signal. I had to fit a Tach Adapt to improve the signal. I then tried running a 2nd tach adapt for another function - nope - the system fell over.

Holley/ MSD no help- innovate no Help J&S always helpful!!

Looks like Imay have afew options to pull a tachsignal soIdont over tax one....

2 CDI boxes each has tach signal out

J&S Safeguard also has a 12v square wave tach out put. Its the yellow wire in pin 3 of the connector and the output transistor is a 100v mosfet with a120 ohm 12v pull-up resistor. ( ihave zero idea what that means but hopefully its the ticket...

The innovate requires a 0-5v tach signal and worked when spliced into the black and violet tach wire off the CDI.

i spliced into the J&S yellow wire pin 3 and it worked like a charm.

it could be with all connected the impedance has dropped and the CD cant drive all of them.
