911E changes

Hi folks… new guy here looking for some assistance. I inherited what is tagged as a 1969 911S. The odo says it has less than 10,000 miles on it. Ive done a bit of research and the engine S/N is an E number and the car serial number is an E serial number. The engine has some kind of chromed blower on it and there is some kind of cutout switch that has been installed below the instrument cluster. The car is in mint condition and i would just like to sell it but I’m just not sure what i would be selling. Any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Ocean Rick,

Most of the stuff in this forum is turbo based, around the 3.0/3.3 liter turbo engines Porsche produced, along with the later 993, and once and a while 996 and newer stuff. What you have sounds like some sort of early supercharger or blower attached to an early 2.0/2.2 magnesium cased engine. I've seen a few superchargers on here over the years, but not many on that early of an engine, you can search this forums previous post for anything blower or supercharger related. To get any real help, it'd be best to post some photos of what you have, example photos of the engine compartment and the blower you mention in your post. It sounds like there is some discrepancies on how your car is labeled, when you say tagged, do you mean it says 911S on the rear deck lid? Or do you mean the vin plate inside the trunk, on the sill at the front of the car. If you want to learn more about your car itself, it'd be best to create a post over in the 911 forum, that area is way more into the early, F bodied cars. Once you post some pictures here, there is a lot of long time members that may chime in on what you have with regards to a blower on this early of a car.

Good luck with figuring out what you have!

Welcome. I might also recommend you visit the Early 911S Registry forums at https://www.early911sregistry.org/forums/forum.php . There's a lot of cross-pollination between there and here but the people who focus on the minutiae of the early cars are more often found there.
