Clutch and maintenance!

Time to stick a new cutch and go through the undercarriage. Rack and pinion boots have dry rotted! Need to replace all the braided line to PTFE. New fuel rails, fuel pump and fuel tank, basically a new fuel system. 20 years has been hard on her!

Nice. Keep us updated. Hope you don’t need a new distributor cap too

Hey Ken, caps is good! But I don't use conventional caps. It's a Jaguar V12 cap, the distributor is a custom billet unit made to use the Jaguar's cap and rotor.

Was the custom unit a better way to go than the Porsche Twinfire setup?

I'm running EFI, so I had Mike Burns modify this to accept the Jaguar cap and modified rotor. The dizzy gives ignition signal as well as CAM sync for full sequential injection. Only other thing I could do is upgrade to a newer system and run COP's. But this system runs flawlessly over the last 20+ years. Hard to beat a proven system. Unfortunately it's no longer made. Holley bought them out and started making their own systems. Time will tell...

I have thought about modifying the twinfire distributor for efi if I ever make the switch, I love the old school look.

Out of curiosity, what are you using for a clutch and what will it hold?

A Kennedy hybrid. And a MPLSlave cylinder to counter the pedal force. We will see?

Clutch in, Billet slave cylinder done. Engine back in the car.

Fuel system next, finishing up new fuel rails. All fuel lines replaced, -10 supply with -8 returns. All new Aeromotive setup with PTFE lines.

Tomorrow I'll start replacing all the turbo oil supply and return lines.

Slowly but steady...

Steady progress. Finished all the PTFE lines front to back. Pulled the oil tank out and reduced its size cutting it down 5" (it was overkill). Welded in a new battery mount. Modified a new 100L gas tank to accept a Aeromotive in tank pump. Put the factory gas flap in the fender for easier fueling. Lots of things needed, something's I didn't like so while in there, cut it out and rebuild. Should be able to fire her back up maybe this weekend.

Oh boy, you are making me feel bad. To me you are moving very rapidly and doing a beautiful job of fabricating on top of that.

Don't feel bad... Get busy! I have been so tied up with work, I just said enough! I need to get on it, and get it done!
Today slow going! Had a dump truck drop some rocks at speed on the interstate and broke my windshield on the truck. Safelite came but couldn't touch it until Dodge fixed my surround camera system. Something about calibrating the camera system that connects to the safety feature. Said it was a liability issue. So now scheduled an appointment at Dodge to have them fix plus perform some recalls.
So today I end up applying another layer of epoxy to the gas filler housing to the fender, and block the flap to the fender. Still need to tweak the flap gap. But at least I was able to back her out and give her a wash. Tomorrow is another day.

Did I just read that GJF uses a dizzy??!?! The baddest 3.2 on Earth has a rotor and a cap!

BTW, I’m super happy with the GM SMART coilpack on mine. One day I might get around to adding a second coilpack to light the 2nd plugs.

Tippy! How the hell are you?!
Dizzy still gets it done!
Adding a splitter and a second coil pack, you can back off your timing literally in half!
Hope all is well across the Gulf!

Beautiful build. How about some more info on the beast? Heads, cams, etc. I think you are in FL, I'm in SW FL. Who did your tuning? Thanks.

Thank You! it's a 3.4 with JB Cylinders with custom JE Pistons, 9.3:1 compression, Carillo rods, Bill from Xtreme added big valves and reworked his magic to the heads. GT3 oil pump. Stainless step 1 5/8 headers. Twin Turbonetic turbos. EFI DFI injection. I use to have a custom shop years ago, I would build custom race cars, motorcycles you name it. I use to tune quite a bit but no longer do it for a living. But I still tune my cars. Last time on the rollers it was an older Mustang Dyno with smaller turbos. The dyno was only rated for 1,100. I pegged the scale so I am going to say 1,150-1,200 on high boost. I usually leave it around 15 to 20 psi depending on fuel quality. She has been a garage queen lately, but at least I have been able to get some good progress on the upgrades. Car was built back in 2004. I'm working in SW Fla but live in Palm Beach County. I bounce across the state depending on the job.

Doing good, thanks! Hope you’re doing well.

I knew you made insane power but didn’t realize you hit ~1200! Geezus!
