930 tranny hold up to ...?
I'm pretty sure I know the answer but just want to know for sure.
Will a 930 lsd tranny last in a 1500# car powered by a 350 ft-lb tq V8 (mid engine) with 315's in which the driver has an affinity for burnouts? |

My 915 has stood up to that. A 930 wouldn't even flench. Your clutch is another issue ......

Torque-wise, no problems. A rebuilt 930 tranny that was earmarked for our project car ended up in Ultima with turbocharged bigblock. No problems untill his homemade flywheel desintegrated and flew out trough the side, taking the bellhousing with it.
You should install some sort of oil-cooling though, if you plan to transmit lot's of power trough it a longer time.

930 torque rating
I believe the early 930's were rated at 700 torque.

v8 torque
i have run a short bellhousing 930 tranny in my 2250 pound 911 coupe with sbc 475 crank hp for almost three years with no problems. i run 9 inch fuchs on the rear. currently having built an all aluminum 434 sbc using dart block speced to 600 crank horsepower. engine has forged internals capable of 200-300 hp nos shot. engine will be comparable in weight to the original engine and weigh 105 pounds less than the current engine. you will need a capable clutch and pressure plate. i use kennedy engineered products stage 2 pressure plate and kevlar clutch disc.

Yeah, but what about holding up to burnouts with this setup?

Your setup is fine...it's the clutch that is the weak link. I've done some huge smokers at the waterbox....after about the 10th time down the 1/4 mile, the clutch let go. I'm looking for a better clutch now, probably go with the full race puck clutch this time around. You'll smoke the tires before you hurt the 930.
