Onboost: a tease huh? Hahaha I just can't wait to finally see her.

Hell yea! Disreguard, I guess I missed that part somewhere... my bad
Looking good!

Reaper930 10-20-2008 08:33 PM

Mike - naw that's the first I think I've ever stated about it. I'm just not as gung ho about it as I am the wheels etc.

Just talked to Weidman's yesterday and they're assembling the rear rims and test fitting everything and they're painting the centers (front and rear) today. Rear wheels should be done and mounted in the next couple of days.

BBS in GA just shipped out my new rim halves for the front so that way I can keep the 315mm wide tire up there...she should be on the ground getting her ride height finalized in the next two weeks.

The motor fired up today....I can't post the video due to the fact that the US Government blocks video sites over here on our computers (not a bad thing and its understandable) but MY DEAR GOD...its not loud...it shakes the very ground you stand on....its quite possibly the most intoxicating sound i've ever heard.

I've heard the 935's and 934's on video, and while they're very similar (and just freakin' awesome) this has more of a gutteral lope when idling probably due to almost an extra liter of displacement.

NathanUK 10-22-2008 02:31 PM

So the 964 and the 964t only have one oil filter?

WERK I 10-22-2008 02:56 PM

Actually, there are two.

A little taste of 'Reaper Madness.' Uploaded a clip of the start-up that Gabriel had sent me onto my youtube site. A little shaky, but you get the gist... think the camera guy was $hitting his pants.

There's a problem with that video......it's too damn short!!!

Sounds great. Nice work there. :)

rsrmike 10-26-2008 06:34 AM

Sweet!- I'm sure no video can do that beast justice, would love to see it in person...

Hey dave, that pic from Pet is for the NA 964... 965 still only has one filter;)
There is heater plumbing where that filter would be on a 965.

Reaper930 10-26-2008 06:52 AM

Thanks for posting the vid Justin.

And correct that the video only captures the resonnance off the shop etc. Fred told me when I called him up that the bass didn't transfer through at all, it shakes the ground as you can feel the vibrations in your feet. :)

Reaper930 10-30-2008 02:58 AM

Intercooler is on, should have pics from Weidman's tomorrow - he's buttoning up the wheels now (centers were painted yesterday).

Next step is the exhaust, we're going to mate 3" tubes to vband clamps so I can have two interchangable exhaust systems (quite and loud) but I know i won't be using the quiet setup often :).

Wow, uh, yea, totally disregaud my oil cooler comments!! That's gonna be awesome.
You might could fit a hobbs hour meter in that rectangular hole above the Knock meter...

Looking good dude. I sure wish I could join you guys in the mountains...

Any chance you'll be cruising through AL on the way? P.M. if so, I might could snag the RUF and come play tag for a bit on the way...

Gab, where did your guy source those turn signals? I need to put something similar on the sides of my 908 project in order to pass inspection.

Diggin the boost management set-up and execution. Gonna see how my old-skool system works, but the TEC-Gt system allows upgrading to something like yours if desired.

Whtnkls911 11-02-2008 02:09 PM

What oil cooler is that? Where did you get it?

Thanks

Reaper930 11-02-2008 07:22 PM

RsrMike: Glad you dig it my friend :) and I was thinking about the hour meter, but I don't know if we'll have time to set it up before I pick it up...so many little things going on.

Justin: Not sure on the signals, pretty sure they're motorcycle pieces, I'll have to dig through my e-receipts and get back with ya...and yes - the inspection trolls will be trying to keep me off the roads! Too bad my 6 point harnesses and truss are all DOT approved!

Whtnkls911: Not sure on the cooler - SETRAB I think is the maker - if you want call 818 787 7187 and talk to Fred for specs etc. He's got all the info on the coolers.

myamoto1 11-03-2008 09:01 AM

blinkers look like either motorcycle parts or the front fender marker lights from an old VW bug.

FenderBender 11-03-2008 02:26 PM

Blinkers look like pickup truck cab running lights to me?

Reaper930 11-03-2008 09:34 PM

Okay so along the way in polishing the wheels, Harvey and I spoke about pits and scars on the outer rim halves from the wheel fans and racing in general. We talked about adding material to them to fully polish them out but we were both in fast agreement that instead of hiding and removing their previous life's work - we were to leave it on display with a light polish...a tribute to battles fought and won.

I do have to say that my dealings with Weidman's wheels has been BEYOND PERFECT...Harvey is one of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure of working with and does such a fantastic job that I would never hesitate to use his services again...always up front and to the point on every subject.

When Harvey was polishing my wheels he noticed an odd marking/stamping in the rim half...so he though it good to take a pic and send to me...can you make out the lettering? K R E M E R....
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1225776697.jpg

This is just another tribute to Harvey's highly sensitive analysis of every part of everything he does, I can garuntee if anyone else had been redoing these wheels not only would they not be so perfect but that little marking would have been polished out.

Behold the delight that is Harvey Weidman's work...I'm not an emotional person, but I'm getting misty-eyed just looking at these pictures...

I'm speechless. Those wheels are absolute works of art Gabriel. And to know you are rolling on the legacy of the Kremer Bros.... well i cant think of anything more fitting for your project. ++1 on the Carbon rear deflector and GT3 style pipes. Perfect. Cant wait to see the flame show from the rear.

Rodrsr: I KNOW!!! The wheels should be at the shop tomorrow or so...they're itching to put it on the dyno to get some runs in...i can't sleep! And to date, today has been the best day of my life so far, getting to see all these emails with pics, the Kremer suprise, the exhaust...i'm in heaven.

Gabe those wheels are killer. Cannot wait to see the final assembled product.

Reaper -

Where'd you source the CF reflector insert?

Reaper930 11-04-2008 09:04 AM

Craig: Got it from a fellow pelicanite that was making them for awhile then stopped. Not sure of the screen name.

Thanks Brian, can't wait myself!

SCHNELE 11-04-2008 09:26 AM

I might be inclined to join you guys my car is already in North Carolina.

RarlyL8 11-04-2008 05:36 PM

I'm near Knoxville right now on business. May have to take the lowered GMC through the Dragon and shake up the bikers a bit, ha!

It is nothing short of gorgeous here right now with the leaves turning. You guys will unfortunately miss this beauty by a month. It will be quite chilly in the mountains by December.

AngM018 11-04-2008 06:42 PM

Great job choosing the center dual outs! That is a rare option you only see on Ruf's and GT3's. I gotto go on this run in dec. just to check this beast out.

Do it Lincoln! Its early enough in the month where us car sales guys don't have to worry, and late enough in the week where all the deals are already washed out.

Yeah, but the turbos are gonna love the cold weather!

Brian, would love to have you join us in that beautiful red rocket of yours and hear in person one of those exhausts you fabricate. You're practically just over the mountains. I think you used the work excuse when i was coming cross country. Only allowed one of those per year.

John, let me know if you want to come to see the Drendel collection, as spaces are filling up.

Reaper930 11-04-2008 10:01 PM

Yeah Brian...C'omon! You know it'd be more than fun...

Tom Fitzpatrick made them for a bit.. he may still be doing it.

RarlyL8 11-06-2008 06:15 AM

Ha!
Yes the work excuse. Between the day job and muffler gig I'm stretched pretty thin.
The Dragon is about 4 hours from Huntsville but the entire trip is nothing short of breathtaking. The mountains, leaves and lakes (and lack of population) go on for hundreds of miles. I've been in the Knoxville area just about every week for the past couple of months working a job so the roads have become very familiar.
I have penciled in your Dragon date and would love to attend if possible. If not, SandMan has my center outlet system on his car now so you'll get to hear it.
