Mystery fornt end noise
Guys, a bit baffled here.
Recently added Brembo GTP brakes to my '85. At the time, the wheel bearings were replaced, and I ripped out all of the A/C stuff. I now have a strange noise that I can hear at low speeds. Sounds kind of like a running shoe in a dryer. Intermittant, not related to wheel speed. No vibration felt. Checked again, nothing rubbing, no vibration, or grinding felt in the wheel when I spin it by hand. Checked and lubed all suspension bushings. Any ideas would be appreciated, I don't have much hair left to pull out. many thanks Bully |

Was the noise present immediately after the upgrade or did it start later?

Last time I heard anything like that the lug nuts were loose on my Dodge van...seriously. Had the tires rotated and the mech didn't tighten one set of lugs.
![]() Jack the car up and spin them....Anything? tires are round with no bulges. You should hear or see something with a bang like your description.... Bob

Lugs are tight, and yes I only noticed the noise after the changes.
I immediately suspected the wheel bearings, but everything appears good there. |

They replaced the races when they did the bearings, right? Also, are the nuts tight enough on the spindles? Spinning by hand with no load may not cause the noise but the weight of the car may do it if they are loose.
