I would feel bad but mine has power seats... You know, you might be able to get 17k for that car if you market it right.

Well, let me be one of the first to start driving the price of the best cars in the world up!! I just completed the purchase of a bone stock, black / black / black '89 930 cab with only 21,000 miles on it. It had been sitting is a guy's garage for the majority of the last 11 years (he was the second owner who bought the car as a trophy for himself and it just sat in his garage). Thanks to the guy's wife for wanting the garage space, I was able to wrestle it away from him.
The car was flat bedded to my mechanic who put together a L-O-N-G list of everything that needed to be done - it was a lot since the car had been sitting for so long. Interesting tidbits: 1) The car's VIN ends in ...584, so out of only 600 cabs made, this was one of the last ones!! 2) Also, when the mechanic did the compression test, it came back at 130 in all six cylinders. Shocked because 130 was the original factory spec, the mechanic repeated the compression test - 130 in all six. As the mechanic poured over the car, he said it was an excellent example of an '89 930. Price? The seller and I agreed on $52.5. The mechanic felt there would be around $10K in repairs (most belts, hoses, seals, gaskets, oil lines replaced, shocks on all four, brake pads, major service (duh), tires, etc. etc. etc.), so I offered the seller $42.5 agreeing that I would pay for the repairs. Done deal. Could I sell the car for $52.5 today? For someone who wants a completely perfect, bone stock 89 930 cab, I believe I could get at least $52.5. (See RPM Sports Cars, for example (sure, there's no one who would buy those cars at those prices, but my car is nearly as good as those (IMHO). In case you are wondering, this baby won't be modded. If I decide I need something like my old '89 Ruf, then I'll get another 89 930. This one, IMHO, is worth more to me bone stock. It drives perfectly. There are no air leaks from the cab top. There are no rattles. I've seen / driven many, many 89 930's and this one is truly awesome for a bone stock car! It's nice to be back in the saddle again (even if it is bone stock!). Pictures will probably be taken over this long weekend. Dan Current: '89 930 Cab (Black/Black/Black, #584 of 600) Former: '97 993tt '89 930 (Black/Black/Black, Ruf BTR kit) '86 Carrera '05 WRX Sti - I thought it would make me happy after selling the the previous P-cars. Whoa, was I WRONG!!! There's nothing like a Porsche!! |

Hey Rory....alas it has a sunroof..it is a Euro though. Never have seen a sunroof delete 930, seems they are extremely rare in the US..wish mine was one. Maybe come paint time I will remove it...just don't know how wise that would be, there is always that specter of resale looming out there.

Heh thanks, appreciate the thought, good to hear. Glad someone out there is low enough to be on my er level. I'm def. not be the smahtest or the most heel'd (for gofast bits) so maybe my redemption is I'm good for a laugh here and there - or like something and stuff, and things... I think. Even my Dr. says I'm im-po-tent. Congrats on the valve adj., that's something that's been on my mind lately - wundrin if I could tackle mesself. I fear tho my Fecal Touch might preside, like near everything I try it would end up costing me double in the end. Thoughts? |

Not something I am able to do yet, however my shop has an open door policy. So I can go back and basically get in there way and ask dumb questions....maybe even be able to hand them a wrench!!! lol

Wow, lot of your 930 were only in the mid 20s. You guys got such a deal. I paid 35 for it 5 years ago with 48000 miles on it. Now I am thinking, did I pay too much?

Purchased June 1997 for $30,500
1986 930 Grand Prix White with Champagne full leather 53K Miles Two Previous Owners 100% Stock, Service records, Excellent PPI At the time (almost 11yrs ago) I thought this was a reasonable price for the car? My only changes have been adding the RH 18" wheels and adding a CD player. Car has been completely reliable and has only required regular scheduled maintenance. ![]()

After the next project
|
Here she goes
Car: 87-930
Color: blk/blk Miles: 96k Purchased: 12/07 The car was 100% stock when purchased except for the Fuchs were chromed. I have since upgraded the wheels and a few other not so cheap options. I had a leak down and it was 2-3% across the board. The down side... not that great of history with records, but I imagine the engine has had some work with that low of leak-down numbers. Paid: $23,500 Bryan ![]()
