Edge margin is too short, and the wheels - as mentioned above - are designed for a short life cycle.

I do like them on your car and I do hope you find a replacement!

The look is really nice...but I agree that if they are so "fragile"...i'll have to do something.......:(

Not sure if would have helped, but there should have been a washer under the bolt as well to spread the load.

What torque setting was being used on the bolts?

It has been done by MCG (some of you saw their productions...) ....they are professionals......the standard BBS recomandation 1.5 m/daN.....sorry for the conversion.....

if the ring bolts are not checked from time to time they loosen up.most often they break off if loose.and or fracture ring side of rim.from my experiance with bbs 3 piece wheels.

The rims I've got have no gasket in the middle of the 2 halves....some people here told me that it could be the reason of the damage....???.....can somebody here confirm this......?......thanks to all for your help......SmileWavy

In theory your suppose to change the gasket when the wheel halves are taken apart. Some folks used silicone sealer instead. I think this was to get around the $40.00 per gasket charge. I've used both methods and never had a problem. I run the 3 pc bbs rims w/fuchs centers on the track and street.
I was told the torque was 12 f/lbs. (or 144 in./lbs) by Bob Woodman. I found about 3-4 bolts would strip out using this torque setting.

Did you try talking to tech support at BBS about the cracked rims?

Looking at the European website for BBS, I see that you can get just the rubber ring instead of the aluminum ring with rubber ring attached. It's got to be much cheaper to replace the rubber ring, rather than both as a unit.

The last time I rebuilt mine, I noticed that a few bolts seem to be loose later on. I re-did all of them with a little red Loctite for insurance. As I was loosing a small amount of air in several wheels, I also ran a bead of HTV silicone on the inside between the two halves after bolting them up. No leaks after months.

A in/lb torque wrench is a must at 144. Not a ft/lb torque wrench set at 12.
