There are some modern tires out there that mean 245 can be enough. My buddy's 600HP beast has a ***** of a time breaking his 245 Bridgestone RE11s loose, even with a 5 speed G50.
For the fronts, I prefer the narrowest tire I can run. I'll pay more for grippy compound that allows for a narrow contact patch and telepathic, light steering. I'll take 175 Avon CR6ZZ tires on 4.5 Fuchs over just about any front combo for grip and feel. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

FWIW, I run 205/16 and 245/16 RE11s on my 930 and they are AWESOME.

Toyo R888's 235/17 front and 255/17 on 9/10". Very nice (if I even could remember :-) )

^^^ Kenikh, How are the RE11 when cold? I stayed away from track tires on the Porsche because of the extremely poor performance in the cold I discovered with Hankook Ventaus (sp) on my mustang.
It's literally like wearing flip flops on an ice rink when cold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not trying to hijack the thread but it'd be a waste not to ask this with all the tire experts on here. My rears are wearing on the inside. I don't track the car but I believe a po had it set up for the track. It has never been tracked to my knowledge. The rears are 315 Sumitomos. Would this be too much camber causing the wear?

Hey there Kevin,
Without the tires & wheels or alignment/corner balance, I'm guessing around 4K, but that's just a wild ass guess, and it was about 6 years ago!!! This particular final set-up is the third attempt to get it right. I first tried to do it on the cheap down low....total waste of money & time. So I tried to step it up a bit the second time around, only to end up with a harsh riding, ill handling, squeaky car. So finally decided to do it right, once and for all...could not be happier. Lesson learned is that there are no short cuts, right is right....cheap crap is cheap crap. If the car was a track car, I would have gone with polybronze bushings and coil overs, but it only sees the street. So the added cost for only a minor improvement on the street, made no sense. The saying goes: you can never be too rich, too good looking, or have too much tire
Unfortunately I only have 265s on stock wheels however.

I recently upgraded from Bridgestone 235/45-17 and 265/40-17 to the new Firestone Firehawk Indy-500's in 235/45-17 and 275/40-17 and love them. They are mounted on Ruf 9x17 and 10x17's
on a 86' 930. |

1/2 degree of negative camber works well with 315mm or foot wide 30 series rear tires. The tread seems to wear evenly side to side even in S.Florida where curvy roads pretty much don't exist.

Still finalizing my final tire change plan. I have decided to try 225/45-17 front tires which means I'll need some new narrower inner wheel halves to change my wheels from 9" to 8.5" for the narrower tires. I have not decided whether to stick with the current 315/35-17 tires on 11.5" wheels or go with 275/40-17 tires which will also require loosing 1/2" of wheel width.
Anyone here running 225/315 front/rear combo?

That combo would certainly yield an understeer I personally wouldn't like at all.
