That's not going to buff out...

No one was hurt. I was driving, no passengers, no other drivers. I have 7 staples in my head and am greatly humbled but otherwise just fine.

Kirk, looks as if you went through a wild ride. Glad to see you walked away. Do you have any Idea what SN# range the twenty cars were that Andal made the S2's out of was from? It is a shame that you lost such a rare ride.

Wow…I am speechless. It takes a special person to share an experience like this on the world wide web, and I thoroughly commend you on that. Your rear tires look OK (fair amount of tread), the road looks dry (although might be cold and your tires might be cold too…traction limited), so did you go too hot into a corner and tried to save the car?

I am sorry this happened, and sorry that your car is a complete loss and I can appreciate your comment on being “humbled”..your attitude is A+++. The important thing is that you are fine and still here with us.

Maybe you change your username to “DRVMORECAREFUL..NOW”

If it makes you feel any better, I have driven through a fence or two in my time.

Shiny side up brother.

Yasin

My father went to the scene to collect what he could from the car. The Highway Patrol officer that worked the accident told him that he thinks I hit a pothole in the road that blew my tire. That sent me out of control and off the road. Apparently I was traveling backwards when the car flipped after hitting a large rock near the rear drivers wheel. I crawled out upside down. For some reason I turned the ignition off and put the keys in my pocket ... strange thing to do when you are upside down.

Here is a link to more photos in an online album my wife created.

Thanks too all of you for the kind thoughts.

Kirk

Hooooly - wow Kirk, that is truly disheartening. Agreed w/ others on your sharing and how your being humbled is good. Def. an eye-opener for the rest of us, crazy sheeat can sneak up on your and b!tchsmack you upside the head when you least expect it. Happens so fast.

Shame, such a *beaut* of a car. I'm thorougly shocked however at the collapse of the shell like that - I've seen some bad ones before and the shell remained more or less in tact. Yours must have had some serious - um - 'energy' behind it. That it was preserved over your head and nowhere else is proof you've got someone / something looking out for you.

Great to hear you're OK. Insurance claim, bruised ego, lesson learned - get another one. Best of luck to you, again sorry for your loss.

Wowzers! That's scary! One of those moments when you realize it could have been so much worse, i would say you're lucky but there is nothing lucky about that, good to hear your not seriously hurt. This will make me slow down for a while i think

I'd be talking to the insurance company about buying it back, plenty of stuff on there worth keeping, what state is the engine in? Looks like it's ripped the whole exhaust off...

I don't think I'll try to salvage anything. The insurance offered a recovery option but I just don't have an interest in pulling it all apart, cleaning up what can be used, haggling prices, packaging, shipping, payment......

I was working diligently to restore it to factory condition. I still have parts in the garage and on the way to me to be installed into the car. I guess I'll be posting those for sale here soon.

Thanks again for all the kind thoughts and witty comments. I really appreciate all the commentary. It's all in good humor. After walking away from that with minor scrapes good humor is important. More important than a car anyway.

you may find that buying the car back and simply selling it whole you will do fine and not really that much work rather then to take it apart. glad you are doing well

Looks like the value of my 965 just went up
Glad to see you survived relatively un-injured aside from the zipper on your noggin.

You sure had some wild ride there. I am glad your okay. Sorry about your car.

I am sure you were in some shock after all of that happening so fast. It is funny how we do things like turning off the ignition and put keys in our pocket after something like that.

Are you going to get another?
