I would document the mileage on that car. Turbos speedo's are 180 MPH not 150 MPH. Just saying!

I think the 150 is stock and most people upgraded them to the 180 because the
the car was able to peg it , but i am sure a guy or two here can tell us!!

My 76 has 180 MPH speedo, and my 79 had a 180 MPH speedo. All the Turbos I looked at when I was in the market to buy had 180 MPH speedo's. Top speed was listed at 157MPH in 76 and 162 MPH for 79.

The '76 930 turbos had 180. After that they had 150. In 1979 (around mid year) they changed to 85 for U.S. (Nader). The early to mid year 1979 930's had 150. This was around the same time that they switched from larger headlight washers to the smaller ones in '79. Alot of owners switched the speedometers at this time.

The 1981 911 SC has a 85mph speedo and it shows 421 miles on that car. but i can see why poeple would think the 930 would have the 180 mph speedo almost all the cars have been changed!!

As Far As I Know

My '79 with a 160mph speedo is #934 in case we're trying to determine when the change happened.

The 160 mph speedometer did not come out until after 1983. The 85 mph speedo was from mid year '79-'83 (these were in 911 and 930). The Euro cars had KM speedometers. If you have a '76-'79 930 and it has a 160 mph speedo it is not the original speedometer. In 1986-89 they also had the 160 speedo.

I agree with Sloane. My '87 930 has 160 mph speedo. Here's a pic of mine. Ignore the factory boost gauge being "pegged".

Found an old R&T book on Porsches 1975 - 1978 , shows instrumentation 180 MPH speedo. 1979 Turbos speedo's are a ? some have 150 MPHs some are 160 & 85 MPH, some are KPHs. Nice car though 1979 930
