nagging electrical issue related to cdi

So Just curious if anyone has come across this. I have a '79 930 that has the stock CDI. I was having some starting issues a while ago and looked at the perma tune upgrade. I reached in a played with the stock cdi unit wires and such and the problem disappeared for a couple months. The other day took it out and started stepping on it a bit and it died. I pulled over and popped the fuse cover and blew a fuse. Threw another one in there and went another 10 miles and under load same thing happened. So I replaced that fuse and reached into the engine bay and played around with the cdi wires and unit and then jumped back in the car. Didn't want to get stuck so I went home with no issues. Have drove it several times since with no issues. Just curious if anyone has experienced that and if so was it the wires and not the unit, both, or just the unit. Haven't had the time to pull the unit out yet so I thought I would ask. Thanks
