manual boost CTR question
Hi
Rookie question -beware. I have a manual boost knob. I just want to be certain about the operation of this. I want to "close" it, minimum boost. Can you confirm that by closing it (turning it clockwise) I'll reduce boost? It is a classic Porsche/Ruf type controller. Thanks Jesper |

Clockwise should turn the boost level down. Try in 1/2 turn increments and check you boost gage to make sure your going in the right direction.

Looks like the Ruf means turn right to go faster. Clockwise=higher boost.

Thank for the feedback.
I just realized the the abbreviation I used for control (CTR) is misleading in relation to RUF. Sorry didn't think about that. Flieger, it sure looks like it is clockwise=more boost on that RUF controller. Mine is a much older type though. will get a pic now. Jesper |

I have the silver one... CW to lower boost and CCW for raise boost... I remember by thinking "tighten turns off the boost" just like a faucet turns off the water...
I put a black mark on mine [like the minute hand on a clock], so that I know how many times I'm turning it. In order to get 0.95 BAR boost, I tighten all the way and "loosen" a full 2.5-turns... It has a locking screw [alan head] that I use to lock it in place... I have a 3-yr old that sits back there and I'm afraid he may go to turning it - so, that eliminates that possibility...

just understand that by fully closing the valve, you're boost will then default to the wastegate spring. If you have a 0.7 BAR spring, then that will be your boost.
also, your WUR will still fully enrichen the mixture, but will be mixing with less air; therefore, you "may" be running very very rich... just food for thought...
