missing sheet metal on 3.3 liter turbo or not?

In the teardown of my 3.3 liter turbo I noticed that the sheet metal that usually runs across the 3 cylinder barrels that covers the case thru bolt nuts is missing.
This is an item that is very important on 911SC engines but I am not sure if it was missing due to previous rebuild negligence or if this was a factory change along with the removal of upper cooling fins on the turbo jugs.
I am trying to post photos of the sheet metal from our hosts catalog below:

Am I ok to go without this or was it missing and do i need to order it now? Going to build with 3.4 liter Nickies once I have sold enuff sperm and blood to make the cash, ha,ha.

Fred,

If your '79 was stock, running the original half-finned jugs, then you will not have this piece.

If you are planning on 3.4 liter fully finned nickies, you will probably need to get a complete set of tins from an SC or 3.2 carrera. I suspect that you will find (like I did) that the tins for the half finned cylinders don't fit correctly with the fully finned ones.

link to my thread on the subject:

I'd start looking now to source a good used set. Hopefully this info can save you some time. I didn't discover this until I was reassembling and it set me back a couple weeks. I also wasted $ having my old tins powder coated.

Hey Fred, what CR are you going to run? I have been going for months trying to decide what to build. I just talked to Troy at EBS today, and he is suggesting sourcing some 3.2 jugs and having the Nikasil them to 3.4 and use JE pistons. I am going to run 8:1, twin plug at lower boost. I know Keith, and Chris at turbokraft have suggested this might be a really fun street build.

When I reinstalled mine on the fully finned jugs, I had to trim one or two in just a spot to get them to work. Is this what everybody else did?
