I can't wait!!!!

It brings back memories of the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix

Check out the safety car at 13:45

I was 16 at the time and our seats were on the back stretch. At one point that safety car was just entering the back straight when F1 practice started. You could tell when he realized he was supposed to be off the track because he showed what the car would do!

I went last year and had a blast. Make sure you go to cresent street for some proper partying. Saw some nice rides(including aircooled beauties) on st Denise. Um I hear the message parlors are pretty good too ; )

Yes, Cresent & St-Denis street are great party locations.

I'm going for the 4 days (Thu to Sun) with Gold Tickets and the accommodation will be almost free as I'm staying at my brother place.

Upon my return, I'll post a link here for pics.

P.S. As for the massage parlor, our Latin blood run a bit hotter then the rest of the country

I went last year for the first time since Dallas. Montreal is a phenomenal city and great venue for an F1 track.

If you love good food, I recommend making dinner reservations now for Au Pied de Cochon

It's a little expensive but your taste buds will thank you!

I went the first 6 years at Indy back in the Schumacher/Ferrari world domination days. Back then they could spin those little V8's to 21,000 RPM and the sound on the front straight sandwiched in between the paddock and grandstands was orgasmic.

My friend in Austin is on the list to get us tix as soon as they go on sale. I'll probably fly, because I've driven Iowa to Texas before and it's not worth the miles. Colorado to CA or AZ, now that's a different story

Hotel rooms are scarce you may have to search all the small towns around Austin ..May be San Antonio .

It could also be HOT ...I mean 100 degrees +

Remember Nigel Mansell ?

YouTube - ‪Mansell Passes Out - 1984 F1 Season‬‏

It could also be 80

this is Texas ............

San Antonio

I remember running in the morning at 6AM in 100 Fahrenheit but it was dry heat

River walk was very nice.

We rented a car to go to Corpus Christie beach and on the way back we got some shrimp in a bag from a side road seller. After I finished my bag (full of juicy tails), I stuck it under the seat...

Next morning when we open the door, the stench was unbelievable We had to use someone else car to go to the lab at Southwest Research.

I remember reading your postings about your visit to Montreal. Yes, Au Pied de Cochon is great. Glad you enjoy our hospitality.

This time, I'll try to go to Chuck Hughes "Garde Manger" restaurant garde manger restaurant - Google Search

He beat Bobby Flay in 'Iron Chef' cook-off, on all 3 criteria... Quebec chef wins Iron Chef with lobster poutine - Montreal - CBC News

According to my wife, apparently Bobby is like me, not a good looser

A ta santé

I love F1 (go to a race every year, last 6 years have been 5x Melbourne and 1x Monreal.) This July we're going to Nurburgring.

But I hate that Bernie Ecclestone is the face of the sport. What an embarassment.

Looking forward to Tx!

Just last night my wife and I had a 'debate' about whether the US should have a race. Her point was that there are no American F1 drivers, its just not a priority for Americans. My reply was to pull up Wikipedia and start reading off US F1 drivers (~30 if I remember.)

Bernie's handling of Bahrain is tragic. Fail.

Looking forward to TX!

I was there in 84 and it was HOT! Was standing just near Mansell when he was pushing the car. Great scene! 5 days before the race a friend and I got on the track with our motorcycles and I almost kissed the pavement out doing my moto GP impersonations. Great memories and I stare at the race poster every day in my office. I will be in Austin for the race for sure.

I have been going to Montreal with a big group of car guys every year since '04, love every second of the trip! From the display cars on Peel to the parties on St. Laurent. FYI- for anyone going this year, make sure you stop into the historic F1 paddock on Friday or Saturday. Last year I saw Sir Jackie with his old F1 car and was able to grab a photo with him!

I am really excited for Austin next year..I can’t wait to see what the city and the circuit have to offer.
