This is my original 1979 color to sample from the factory fly yellow with a fine metallic. It lightens up when the sun hits the paint to a bright silver tinted yellow. Alan Johnson racing ( San Diego ) added the factory pre - slat vented front fenders and boxed rockers & front valance along wjth some HP upgrades for weekend track use and color coordinated the wheels as that was also just becoming popular then in early 80s and matched the paint nicely. So I guess if you want authentic retro look they made one for sure this color. Oh, that Lambo orange is really spectacular and when put together should be fantastic especially in the sun.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311456377.jpg

yes the verde is nice that was my first choice til the sales manager at symbolic in san diego said orange was the way to go, here is a verde

it would be nice to see a yellow metallic pearl with blacked out wheels and black trimming |
kinein-
that orange is amazing... well played good sir Steve- Dunno 'bout the naysayers, but I've always found Petey's '77 to look spectabulous in yeller mit matching Fuchs - we call it der Skittle 8-). And DonE's former car (sorry, I forget the current owner here's name) is Fly Yellow IIRC and looks cool. Here's some of Petey: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311470628.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311470640.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311470664.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311470691.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311470725.jpg I agree w/ kinein tho - I'd rock that Lambo metallic yellow 6 ways from Sunday, it looks sooooooooo gooooooooood in person. And I think it'd be better suited to your WB cab build... to me the Fly Yellow is too washed looking for all the curves of a 930... I think the slab surfaces of the typical Ferrari lend itself to the color more appropriately. My useless $0.0002... Motor looks great! Surgical (expect nothing else from the MD heh heh). How 'bout some project update pics yes 8-)... |
Steve,
With those all black wheels we did for you I would suggest a yellow, orange or other bright eye catching color!!! Cheers |
Paul - do you have any more pics of the black 930 with the what appears to be CCW Classics?
(third picture down and thrid car from the left) If so please email them to me - it would be great to start photoshopping differnet color wheel centers on a 930 that already has the classics installed. |

isnt bmw ppg paint? basically any ppg blue would be good, a metallic blue with silver pearl in it would be nice
|
I would choose the Lambo orange.
I like the way it looks, and it says inxs. Which is also how I see your project. Agree with the color combo with the black wheels You have your German flag as well then. Decisions decisions I need to paint my cars in the future. So I fully understand. |
The metallic yellow on the first page on this thread was my car!! sold it off a couple of months ago ..... here is another picture of it with black rufs.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311557151.jpg For some reason all the yellow slopes seem to find me. Here is my "new" yellow slopenose. I am not sure if this is speed yellow. It is not the original colour. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311557225.jpg |
Just to muck things up a little, this is a paint to sample 87 turbo. There are about 2 others on the boards in the same paint to sample color.

Dayum Bryan, that car is sexxxxxaaaaaay!
The owner of that Boxster next to it should kick his own arse tho 8-/. Neat! A 2.3-16 in front of it - some cool cars you got out there on the island. I saw a WRX in yellow over the weekend which made me think of this thread, not metallic but a decent enough shade. Quote:

Name's Fred I think (sorry!)? Cool guy, good looking car... |
