1/4 Mile AND Dyno testing the 930
Recently finished building my 930 and finished with the dyno tuning and wanted to get some real world track tuning done. This was 135 mph run, however the objective was to leave very easy and just run it up through the gears for data logging and tuning. Three passes were made with no boost changes.
JRod Joes Silver Porsche 930 Turbo (2) - YouTube This was running against a very fast late model Corvette with slicks and what sounded like open headers. He shot out on me good, but the horse power of the little Porsche was a humbling experience for him. Later he wouldn't even acknowledge my existence, go figure.:) Joes Silver Porsche 930 Turbo (3) - YouTube JRod |
Jrod,
Love the second video because you tee'd it up perfectly. Great sounding and fast ride. I am sure you will see several people post wanting photo's since you only have 6 posts... I would recommend getting those in order. Congrats on a great car and win!!! Any HP figures? What has been done to the beast? Cheers and welcome, Bryan |
Here is the dyno graph at .7 and 1.4 bar with a spike of 1.6 at peak boost.

Yes, I'll post my build sheet tomorrow for you guys
JRod |
Great results. How have you handled the high boost.
500 hp at 0.7 sounds like it breaths really good. |
JROD, specs of the build, please...I am considering variable boost controller so I can turn up the boost at higher speeds. Running 500WHP at .8Bar, but in 3rd -5th could go higher. Nice work and great video!!

NICE!!! :)
The vette guy :( I guess he wonders "How the heck did he catch me???!!!"http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/sad2.gif |

Nice ride! Is it an EFI conversion and did you do it yourself? I ask cuz I'm working on one too... Thanks for sharing & see at the track...JK:p |
That's awesome!!
Did you just buy the car or were you considering selling it? |
Nice! Good to see our porsches beating a vette.

Nice. Real nice.

I like how more and more people are coming out of the woodwork drag racing their cars.
I get so tired of hearing how the 911/930 is not built for drag racing. Awesome ride! Love it. |
As I was reading your list, your crank is std. 3.3 and your using 98mm Pistons and Cylinders..
You are producing fantastic numbers-hp on a 3.3ltr engine. Am I correct? If you used a 3.6 turbo crank with 98mm Pistons and Cylinders you would have 3.45ltr displacement...I believe Congrats!!! Walt |
Nice! its a very fast 930, no doubt. best ive done to date is 11.3 at 127mph. cis and stock weight. Ive seen 130.1mph but only on a G-tec measuring device. jetjox....... top work mate.

Hi jetjox. I ran that time back in 2010. A few more mods since then but theres a post with pics and time slips on here under.. quarter mile results... I only did 2passes on the day but the chev boys were pretty shaken up let me say! Torched a blown 6litre holden monaro easy!!!
|
That is one seriously impressive build. The poor Vette guy had to be one depressed dude. Love it.
|
Awesome car. I just started on my engine rebuild and I'm getting excited.
Isn't you 6.8:1 compression ratio lower than stock? How does it drive off boost? I thought with twin plugs and EFI it was safe to raise the compression ratio over the stock number. |

Bravo!...reads very similar to my build except I have higher stat compression 8:1 and running only .8Bar now...would like to put in variable boost controller to kick in from 3rd - 5th. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1326501055.jpg

jetjox, nice to see another 930 kicking ass on the drag strip. Your power numbers are right where I want to be. did you mention how much boost your were running on the 137mph pass?
I am also glad to hear the EVO cams are working great, I have a set on the shelf for my build. Damn we really have to do a get together for us florida boys. lots of cool 930's coming out of the woodwork |
Jetjox, what is the name of the controller you recommend?
|
sounds like he is speaking of the AMS500 or 1000. Sebastian from NLR ( the maker of those products) has gone over 200mph on his turbocharged bike with NO WHEELIE bar
