Muffler-Please Identify

Hey guys... please ID this stainless steel muffler set up. There are no markings. It's one in and two 3" oval pipes out. Is it loud? does it drone? Thanks...Uwon

It looks very similar to the one a friend of mine had on his 930. If I remember correct, it was a GHL and yes, lots of drone!

Take a picture of either end and that will help identify it.
The welded on ends on B&B mufflers are recessed around 14mm and GLH are flush.

Dual out mufflers like that are usually heavy, on the loud side, and might drone at low to mid rpms. Try it.

Apparently not all of them... I have a B&B single out muffler and there are no numbers or writing on it anywhere.

It's well made but heavy and full of internal turbulance compared to a straight through all stainless steel Borla or Magnaflow muffler.

Hmmm.. Learn something everyday... The dual might have less turbulance...

Big box; so, it probably drones. Straight pipe = less turbulane & less weight

Thanks guys for your input and comments.
JF... here are pics of the ends. they are recessed only 6mm.
Stupid question... is BB the same as B&B and Billy Boat?
Another stupid question.. Can I block off the left side for street use and then open up the right side for the track? Will this make any difference or any adverse effect on the motor (assume not much hot dogging), noise, and droning?
Cheers,
Uwon

B&B is Billy Boat. You can cap one end and it'll keep the noise down as well as the cabin resonance. I had a 4.5" dual out B&B and the resonance would drive me bat **** crazy!

You could also cut out about 1.25" of the right side out, weld a generic 3 bolt 3" ID exhaust flange on each side of the cut, and with 3 bolts install one of these electric exhaust valves in between the flanges.

There's other ones too.

Then you can open the valve all the way or part way with a momentary switch inside the car for less backpressure with more horsepower and noise when you want it and close it to make it quieter.

Looks like a B&B or a knock off, my B&B definitely has an identification plate with PN and date of manufacture.
Now does it make any difference in loudness depending on which side is blocked?

I agree with WPOZZZ, the dual big BB not only drones, but sounds plain dull. No doubt, it certainly allows my K27 turbo to spool up quickly. However, the noise is very unpleasant. I was thinking of a Rarly8 single or Fabspeed single. Anyone got any comments on these? Otherwise, if I shut one side off, do we get the nice crisp 6 cyl note again?

Mine are made of 321 stainless, weigh 12 pounds mounted, 3" straight through design (all power no drone), include O2 bung/plug, and come in a variety of sound, flange and tailpipe configurations. No other manufacturer comes close to that combo.

I've heard the rarlyl8 dual, sounds really good, I'm sure the single is good too.
I have the fabspeed, in single mode it is mellow, dual mode is loud and can drone. Recently, I capped off the rt side, but drilled holes in it and had the tip expanded to cover the cap. The result is a true/functional dual out (thanx fabspeed). Really, really sounds good/ zero drone and I love the dual outs. I'll throw up some pics later.
I wish I would have thought of Jfaiman's idea first, that would have been better.

Try you tube.

I have a Hooligan and love the craftsmanship and it's very light compared to anything out there resembling a muffler. Highly recommend. Service is very good too!

Thanks guys... I have to presume at this stage that the muffler is a BB. It is well made but heavy. Has anybody tried to strap on some high temp rubber or silicone to the backside of the muffler to see if it dampens the droning?

My mechanic did the put rubber/stops on the certain areas of the muffler and hindges..Not sure if it did any good...What I do know, with bb headers and dual bb muffler the cabin noise drove me nuts..Seriously speaking i would need ear plugs..He also had cams in the engine..etc.etc..

I have a BB dual exhaust. w/ 930 euro headers, No cabin noise or resonance ..zilch...I also have cams..blah..blah.. Both exhausts purchased in 1994 when doing top-end builds..Don't know if there was a sport or touring version at the time..I called B&B and said no knowledge...But powerhouse advertised a sport or touring version model.. I believe they used bb exhausts in their builds.
