I drove the Ring
I typically don't do the sticker thing; but driving the "Ring" was a life's dream. I only got one lap, the track opened late and a car broke on my first lap causing the track to close. I know I have more car than ability the way I was getting passed, LOL

Was on the ring with my 78 white 930.
Had many laps. Both on public open days, but also limited to the gran turismo events I attended. Planning on gong there this spring with my 79 930

I did this about 5 years ago and it was awsome. Had a crappy rental car though. My 930 has a similar "ringer" sticker on it

1.) More car than driver = crash.
2.) Good car + good driver means learning the track without over-extending yourself and ending up in situation 1. Sounds like you were the latter. Well done. I dream of lapping the Ring. One day. I have a buddy who rented a track prepared Suzuki to drive on the Ring, I think he only got a couple of laps in due to time and accidents (not his), but now I have no alternative but show him a little respect. Damn I need to get there. I also think it should be some sort of law that in order for your car to display a Ring sticker, you have to have driven it.

I did three laps with my 930 before the wiring melted from a short. No ring sticker on her though but possibly later if it looks nice enough. It's one of those things I just had to do, the Ring that is and on both of my cars.

A buddy and I rented a track prepared Alfa and spent 2 days driving the ring alternating driving and riding or driving with a coach we hired. Summer 2008.
Pretty well lapped until we needed fuel, out for gas then back for more. Planning a return summer of 2014 with a bigger group & will do Spa same trip. Dave |

Drove the ring too
Dear sirs,
This is driving the ring filmed by a go pro camera at the last race in the 2012 season. We do youngtimer racing here in Germany and even if it is not a 930 it is a turbocharged Porsche car: 944 turbo s / manufactured in 1988 Maybe you can enjoy it as there are some of the specifics to see that makes the Nordschleife so special and beloved... The starting procedure was quite long so if you want to start looking at the warm up lap on Döttinger Höhe - go to minute 24:00. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dE6vufQXyuI With all the best from Krautland. Highly reccomended - driving the ring!
I rented a (track prepared) suzuki swift as it was misty and wet on my day Plus my insurance did not cover the 930 Hopefully one day I will get to do 1 tour in the 930!

Driving the ring and getting that sticker on the 930 is part of the reason why I still toy with the idea to ship the car there for the 15 months I will be in London starting next fall...
Nice that you did it!!
