I was bit by the Turbo bug years ago. Mines far from stock these days.

We have a 930 that will be for sale soon that has the same delemma. It was modified but had no history. My decision was to tear it down, fix everything we could find wrong and put it back to stock. The end product will be a solid starting point for someone who wants to mod it their way. Fresh top end, no oil leaks, lots of new parts. The kind of car I would like to buy myself, ha!

Well, may not be doing either of those cars. The modded guy just won't get me any information...The other car after a lot of deliberation needs work and I don't think, end of the day, it is worth $50k. But I have an offer on a '79. Hoping they accept.

I really wanted a '79 but couldn't find any reasonably priced. It is the '79 that is at RAC on their site. The car has been thoroughly gone through: totally rebuilt motor, all new fluids, new interior which I think looks great), new a/c with R134 (need a/c in Florida). Only thing I not happy with is the color. But I can live with it considering it is a 1 owner car and the rest of the car is so sorted. And for the price, I could repaint it in the future...
BUT, there are no rear seat belts which I kind of need for my kids who love to ride with me. I posted a thread about this. |

eh. I passed on the car. I dunno. With that low miles and all...I figure I am missing something. And I just don't think I can do brown. Lets see. I guess that's why this is the hunt.

I'm sure Miguel isn't taking offense as he knows how friggin biatchin that color is: sorry, that color just makes me feel all sorta funny 'down thar' but hey to each their own - get what makes you happy I'd not picked Guards, buuut... 8-) again, good luck with the hunt - it's def part of the fun |

How much did you agree on for that 79 turbo at RAC?

Color aside, I'd thought the car had the interior redone and it had original paint. But it was resprayed and they said the paint had some issues here and there. They were very honest about it but after I hung up I was calling places to repaint the car and then I got all sorts of flak from the family and friends about doo doo brown and...you guessed the rest.
If the car were ANY other color I would have taken it. The price is right, the interior looks great, a/c was converted to R134, the motor is redone. Has great stuff going for it but I think I am going for the modded '86 turbo that first caught my interest. That car has 21k miles, fully documented, 2 owners, truly immaculate condition, all original parts, etc. etc. It just feels better when I think about it... |

Wow, I love the color too. That's a very dark brown - super cool. Maybe you'll be surprised and it will grow on you.
The suede interior looks wrong to me though. Yuck. |

Being a '79 I wonder why someone put the '86 or early '87 third brake light on it.
If you need or want one it looks better to use the one from an '88 or '89 that's glued onto the top inside of the rear window. Alot easier to install too. |

That thing has me hot and bothered, definately need to take a plasma cutter to the brake light though. Ok maybe a screwdriver would work better.
